We Didn't Set Out to Make a Slipper: Why CloudKicks Exists

We didn't set out to make a slipper. We set out to redefine comfort. This is the thinking behind CloudKicks, and where the brand goes next.

Streetwear comfort, done right

We didn't set out to make a slipper. We set out to redefine comfort. That line sits at the heart of CloudKicks, an independent UK brand, and it explains most of what we do: why the shape is oversized, why the details borrow from trainers, and why we think streetwear slippers deserve to be taken seriously. Here's the thinking behind the brand, and where it goes next.

Comfort should still carry weight

Most comfort footwear asks you to make a trade. You get softness, but you give up any sense of style. The slipper becomes the thing you kick under the sofa when someone knocks, the one part of your outfit you'd rather nobody saw.

We never bought into that trade. The hours you spend at home are still your hours: working, gaming, cooking, catching up with mates or doing absolutely nothing, properly. They deserve the same thought you'd give to anything else you wear. Comfort should still carry weight.

By that we mean comfort that's taken seriously: a considered shape, details that stand up to a second look, and a pair you're happy to be seen in when someone does knock.

That's where the brand line comes from: Streetwear energy. Slipper comfort. No compromise. It isn't a tagline added at the end. It's the idea everything else is built on.

Why streetwear slippers?

Streetwear is about attitude as much as clothing. It's the reason people care about a colourway, a silhouette or the curve of a heel. That eye for detail usually stops at the front door, and we couldn't see why it should.

Look at what most people wear around the house. Plenty of it is soft, but very little of it says anything about who you are. It's comfort as an afterthought, picked up in a hurry and never thought about again.

So we took the energy of streetwear and pointed it at the most overlooked shoes in the house. The result is a streetwear slipper with the visual language of a sneaker: layered panels, chunky laces, a heel stripe and a badge on the tongue. Underneath it all sits what a slipper is actually for, which is plush, cushioned comfort.

And why oversized? Because if a slipper is going to borrow from sneaker culture, it should commit. A bigger, rounder shape makes the plush look full and soft, gives the sneaker details room to show, and turns something usually forgettable into a statement.

Streetwear meets comfort. Not one pretending to be the other. Both at full strength.

Designed with intent

Designed with intent is a phrase we lean on a lot, and we mean it literally. Every detail on the CloudKicks Air 110 Plush Slipper has a job, whether that's how it looks, how it feels, or both.

  • Big silhouette. An oversized, rounded shape with real presence, even when you're sitting still.
  • Soft landing. A plush outer and a cushioned interior, because comfort is the whole point.
  • Sneaker DNA. Layered grey gradient panels, a white honeycomb mesh-look side panel and a thick black curved heel stripe.
  • The finishing touches. Chunky white rope laces, a plush tongue with a black oval "cloudkicks" badge, and webbing lace loops in a hit of colour.

None of it is there to fill space. The grey gradient gives the shape depth, the heel stripe gives it a sporty line, and the colour-pop loops give each pair its personality. If you want the full breakdown, we've taken it apart piece by piece in The Anatomy of a CloudKick.

Every panel, loop and lace is there on purpose.

A lot of life happens at home. Slow mornings, long days at the desk, evenings on the sofa, and the group chat that turns into everyone round at yours for the match or a film. From lounge to link-up is about that whole stretch of the day, and all the moments in between.

  • Lounge: the slow start, the coffee, the nothing-planned Sunday.
  • Work: the laptop on the desk or the kitchen table, the calls, the focus.
  • Play: the late gaming session, the film, the snacks.
  • Link-up: the mates who come round and clock them straight away.

CloudKicks are designed primarily for indoor comfort, and we're proud of that. Home is where the hours actually go, so that's where the comfort needs to be. The style is for whoever's sharing the sofa, whoever's in the kitchen when the kettle goes on, and for you.

Comfort stays locked in. Style stays sharp. That's the balance we're chasing, and one customer put it better than we could.

“Comfort without looking lazy. Exactly what I wanted.”

This is just the beginning

Drop 01 came in two colourways, Hyper Turquoise and OG Neon, as a limited run. Same oversized silhouette, same plush comfort, with the colour pop doing the talking. It was an opening statement, not the whole story.

The promise on our about page is simple: Bolder colourways. Refined shape. New silhouettes. Drop 2 is coming this Autumn.

What won't change is the test. Anything with the CloudKicks name on it has to look sharp and feel like a soft landing. If it can't do both, it isn't ready. Streetwear comfort, done right.

Drops come in limited quantities and sell while stocks last, with no promise that any colourway comes back. If you want to know why we work that way, and how not to miss the next one, read why limited drops matter.

Join the Cloud

The CloudKicks brand is for people who care how things look and refuse to be uncomfortable about it. People who want their downtime to feel like a choice rather than a compromise. Turns out plenty of people wanted the same thing.

Have a look at the drop, pick your colour and join the Cloud. We didn't set out to make a slipper, and once you've got a pair on, we think you'll see why.
